Let's face it! There isn't very much information on the net from severe macaw owners and the valuable experiences they have when it comes to living with SEVERE Macaws, hence THIS blog. I will mainly write about my sweet and ever SO GOOFY severe macaw Mabel. On the occasion, my 2 other parrots, Sachi white capped pionus parrot & Emma my african grey will make special cameo appearances. At times I may even blurb about random topics too. Enjoy your time here!

No such thing as an attractive Severe Macaw...
That's exactly what I used to think. Mabel has proven me so wrong! Not sure if it's because I love her so much that I feel this way OR do I feel differently about this parrot species in general? Isn't she lovely. These were taken moments ago. I'm trying to figure out taking photos in natural lighting with my camera.

Mabel really is a beauty... those pictures are making my "itch" for my Someday Macaw flare up a bit. ;)

She is very pretty ! Love the last picture !
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I definitely feel that I have the best of both worlds with my Emma and Mabel. :)
ReplyDeleteI have considered Severe Macaws attractive since the first one that I ever saw. (That bird now lives with me...my Malachite.) That green with the red in the wings is beautiful, as is the blue wash on the head (which never seems to show up well in photos.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I really like about Severes is the roundness. Round head, almost circular beak. The big macaws (in particular Blue and Gold) are all ovals, but Severes are round. Just adds to the general cuteness of Severes!
Malachite has such a cute name! That's a great observation about the shape of their heard compared to the larger macaws. I hadn't really thought about it. Of course I also stay away from seeing other parrots because I'd be afraid about wanting to bring one home with me. Severe macaws are indeed VERY cute and by far my most favourite mini macaw. :)
